Explore Our Curriculum
At Yatra we explore classroom training under foundational, intermediate and advanced levels.
Foundational Training
Our foundational classes are not your average dance lessons — they are thoughtfully designed learning modules that introduce Kathak as a serious sādhanā. Structured to cultivate clarity, discipline, and depth, these sessions lay a strong technical and philosophical groundwork for aspiring dancers. With a focus on posture, movement mechanics, tala comprehension, and classical vocabulary, students are immersed in an environment that fosters inquiry, introspection, and intentional growth from the very first class. These modules are intensive, immersive, and designed to shape you not just as a performer, but as a mindful practitioner of the form.
Timings: Saturdays, 6:00 – 7:15 PMAdvanced Foundational Training
Positioned at the crossroads between foundational and intermediate levels, our advanced foundational batches are curated for students who either come with prior experience or consistently demonstrate a deep commitment to the art. These modules build on the basics while introducing more complexity in movement vocabulary, rhythmic layering, and abhinaya. Designed to nurture dancers who are progressively evolving in their practice, the training encourages refinement, introspective learning, and a heightened sense of musicality — preparing students for the next phase of rigorous Kathak study.
Timings: Tuesdays, 8:00 – 9:15 PM
Intermediate Training
For students who have a prior grounding in Kathak either through our foundational batches or elsewhere our intermediate training builds technical rigour, aesthetic awareness, and compositional agility. Each module is crafted to balance structure with creativity, encouraging students to think choreographically while strengthening their rhythmic command. From complex footwork sequences to taal-badh compositions and reflective homework assignments, this level challenges students to develop personal discipline, expressive nuance, and a cohesive understanding of movement, music, and meaning.
Timings: Thursdays, 8:00 – 9:15 PM
The Ensemble Programme
The Yatra Ensemble is a premier training stream for serious dancers who aspire to a professional path in Kathak. Entry is by invitation or audition, and the curriculum is intensive, interdisciplinary, and deeply rooted in classical excellence. Ensemble classes focus on advanced technique, movement aesthetics, physical conditioning, and choreographic exploration all under Aditya Sharma’s direct mentorship. Beyond the studio, dancers are equipped with tools for solo development, production planning, and personal branding shaping them into thinking artists with performance-ready skills and creative autonomy. It is not merely a class; it is a launchpad for the next generation of Kathak professionals.
Timings: By audition only. Please email us to apply.
